Repeating basic treatments daily made me start thinking about my career direction.

The Arrival of the Career Plateau

After working in a beauty salon for over two years, I began to feel a distinct career bottleneck. My daily work became almost repetitive: basic cleansing, applying masks, lymphatic massage... My technical skills stagnated, and my salary seemed to have hit a ceiling. Watching some friends who entered the industry around the same time, some switched to other fields, while others advanced themselves through further training and embarked on different career paths.

What made me most anxious was that when I tried to apply for positions in high-end beauty clinics, I was always turned away by the requirement of "lacking advanced technical qualifications." Seeing job ads stating "Laser Technician preferred" filled me with both envy and frustration.

Finding the Path Forward

After a period of confusion and research, I discovered that Laser & Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is currently a hot and in-demand direction in the beauty industry. Not only is the demand high, but the technical skill level is also significant, with corresponding salaries far exceeding those of basic beauty therapists.

However, choosing a training course wasn't easy. I consulted several training institutions and found issues with some programs:

• Hidden fees: extra charges for materials, equipment usage after enrollment.
• Theory-heavy content lacking practical, hands-on opportunities.
• Certifications not widely recognized in the industry.
• Lack of post-training career support.

The course started with skin structure fundamentals, gradually delving into laser principles, device operation techniques, safety protocols, etc. What satisfied me most was the significant emphasis on practical sessions; we had ample time to practice in a simulated clinic environment.

The 200-hour course was offered in weekend and evening classes, designed not to interfere with normal work. I chose the weekend class, studying all day Saturday with Sunday to rest.

3. Transparent Pricing with No Hidden Fees

The fee stated upon enrollment was the total cost, with no additional charges later. A very thoughtful benefit was the option to return for free refresher sessions after graduation, which was incredibly helpful for consolidating skills.

Changes After the Transition

After completing the course and obtaining the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 4 International Diploma, my career trajectory shifted noticeably:

• Successfully joined a mid-to-high-end beauty clinic as a Laser Technician.
• Salary increased by approximately 35% compared to before.
• Work became more specialized and fulfilling.
• Client base and service portfolio became more diverse.

More importantly, I gained clearer career direction and confidence. Now, instead of worrying about becoming obsolete, I focus on continuously enhancing my professional expertise.
